How to Update Your Hours on Google Business Profile

Quick Answer

Keeping your hours up to date on Google is critical. If a customer shows up and you're closed, they'll leave a bad review. Google also ranks businesses higher when their profile is accurate and regularly updated.

1.Go to your Google Business Profile

Open your browser and go to business.google.com. Sign in with the Google account linked to your business listing. Alternatively, just Google your own business name while signed in — a panel will appear on the right with an "Edit profile" button.

2.Click "Edit profile"

Once inside your profile dashboard, click the "Edit profile" button. A panel will slide open with all of your business information.

3.Click on "Hours"

Scroll down inside the Edit panel until you see the Hours section. Click on it to expand it.

4.Set your hours for each day

You'll see each day of the week listed — Sunday through Saturday. For each day you are open: click the toggle to switch it ON, then set your start and end time. For days you are closed, leave the toggle switched OFF and it will display "Closed" to customers automatically.

5.Save your changes

Once all your hours are set, click the blue "Save" button at the bottom. Your updated hours will go live on Google Search and Maps within a few minutes.

6.Double check how it looks to customers

After saving, Google your business name in a regular browser tab (not signed in). Confirm the hours displayed match exactly what you set. This is what every potential customer sees before deciding to call or visit.

Other Hours You Can Update

Google Business Profile lets you set additional types of hours beyond your regular schedule. In the Hours section, look for "More hours" to add online service hours, senior hours, or drive-through hours. For specific dates — holidays, vacations, or any day your schedule changes — use "Special hours" to add custom dates and toggle them to Closed or set custom times.

Google will sometimes send you a notification before a major holiday asking you to confirm your hours. Always respond — it shows customers your information is accurate and up to date.

Tip: Update your hours every time your schedule changes — even temporarily. If you're taking a week off, set special hours for those days. Customers check Google before they show up, and nothing kills trust faster than showing up to a closed business that Google said was open.
